A-1 Pictures is a Tokyo studio founded in 2005 as a subsidiary of Aniplex, itself part of Sony Music Entertainment Japan. Its output is unusually broad β Sword Art Online, Fairy Tail, Your Lie in April, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., Kaguya-sama: Love Is War β and reflects the parent company's diversification across light-novel, shΕnen, and idol-music properties.
Structure
A-1 Pictures' tight relationship with Aniplex means many of its productions are based on properties Aniplex has acquired adaptation rights to, often light novels and manga published by Kadokawa or Shueisha. The studio operates at high volume: it has produced more than 80 TV series since founding.
